Day 23/365 - Abstract Layers: Finding Stories in Sculpture

Sometimes the best shots aren't about the obvious subject.

Today's image, captured at the Marc Fornes sculpture installation in Kaohsiung, plays with layers. The sculpture sits sharp in focus while the world beyond—two people, a building, light—frames softly through it. It's about perspective, depth, and how we frame what we see.

I came to shoot the 50 Tower initially. But street photography teaches you to stay curious. Let the scene guide you. Let the moment speak.

This is what I love about the Ricoh GRIII—its fixed 28mm lens forces you to move, to think about composition differently. You can't zoom out of a problem; you have to solve it with your feet and your eye.

Abstract photography isn't about being unclear. It's about being intentional. It's about isolating what matters and letting everything else fall away.

If you want to develop this skill—finding stories in unexpected places, mastering composition, understanding light and shadow—I offer photography workshops in Taiwan, global mentoring sessions, and online guidance. My Patreon community gets daily insights and exclusive content.
