Day 276/365 Snapped
A pair of glasses, broken clean across the frame, held between two fingers. Some days the small things break too — right on top of everything else already breaking.
Camera Model: Apple iPhone 17
Shutter Speed: 1/160 sec
Aperture: f/2.2
ISO: 40
Close, black and white, unglamorous — the same register as the last two entries in this thread. A hand holds the two broken halves of a pair of glasses, the crack running clean across the frame itself, sunlight coming in flat and even through a window behind. There’s nothing composed about this photograph in the traditional sense. It exists because the frame just gave way — not dropped, not knocked, just reaching to put them on and having them snap in hand — and the camera was close enough to point at the moment it happened.
That’s the whole point of it, really. Not every photograph needs a decisive moment or a considered light — some just need to be there when something goes wrong, one more time, on top of a list of things already going wrong. Herniated discs. A trapped nerve. Torn tendons. Two lawsuits crawling through a system that moves slower than the bills do. And now a pair of glasses that broke for no reason at all, which on any normal day would be a minor annoyance and today is just one more thing to deal with, with an arm that doesn’t fully work and money that’s running out.
