Qijin’s Backstreets and the Bag That Carries It All

Yesterday I set out with no real plan—just the intention to walk and see. I took the bus, caught the ferry across the harbour, and landed on Qijin Island, one of Kaohsiung’s best places to slow down and shoot.

I wandered the alleys and backstreets with the Leica in hand and the DJI Pocket 3 for video. It was the kind of shoot where nothing dramatic happens, but everything feels alive if you’re paying attention.

I also filmed a quick “What’s in My Bag” segment featuring the Wotancraft Pilot 7L, which remains my go-to bag for compact street kits. Small, modular, and tough—it does exactly what I need it to do.

Qijin always delivers. The narrow streets, soft light, and layered textures feel like they’re waiting to be noticed. I left with a full card, a light bag, and the kind of calm that only comes from being fully present.
